Siopaella Goodies

Get your Shaft on at Siopaella/9 Crow with these groovy velvet flares courtesy of my closet. Yes, these plus a few other gems are still available from my consignment which has practically sold out.
Still available are brand new/worn once shoes in a UK size 8 (see: below); three pieces of authentic `60s and `70s vintage, some banging bling and a smathering of designer labels like Aquascutum, and Camilla Norrback. My Paul & Joe, Rick Owens, Gestuz and Calvin Klein goodies all sold out in one weekend so make haste to Temple Bar before the rest of the goods are G-O-N-E. S/he who hesitates is lost!

Fashion Advice From My Niece - Age 7

My sister just picture messaged me a tableau drawn by my niece. As you can see, the two of us are just hanging out by a rainbow, as you do. I love how she gave me long hair (it could have been after I told my sister I bought a wig....long story) and check out those killer boots! What I'm mega impressed with is the absence of colour on my likeness - an homage to my monochrome garb. It's all about the detail folks. File this bad boy under: TOO CUTE!!

Below please find a few fashion pointers I've gleaned from the 7-year old fashion seer:

1.    Glitter, sequins and sparkles make everything better.
2.    Forget about Milan. Claire’s Accessories is where it’s at.
3.    Hello Kitty is a fashion muse rivalled only by Selena Gomez.
4.    Pink Converse and leopard nail decals make for joint awesomeness.
5.    A sleepover requires a cosmetic case, some Katy Perry tunes, a few pairs of earrings and a necklace – one can never be too prepared.
6.    Network. Birthday parties, hip hop lessons, play dates – every invitation is a chance to showcase a new look.
7.    Lelli Kellys are not simply sparkly shoes; they're a statement of intent.
8.    Kittens and puppies have major cross-over appeal - Markus Lupfer take note.
9.    OMG amplifies the value of any item. OMG + Mickey Mouse t-shirt = a must-have.
10.    We don’t do ‘teensy’; the bigger, the better!

Linda the Great

I've been considering growing out my short locks lately; something I reconsidered after combing through archival footage of Linda Evangelisa. If these tresses don't make you want to pull a Samson (without the forgoing of supernatural power bit) then I'll be damned!

So Last Season; So Don't Care

My love of Dries Van Noten shoes is well-documented. Thus I was rendered effectively sole destroyed when having discovered these a/w 11 beauties are no longer anywhere to be found. Once stocked by Belfast's Envoy boutique, I am now forced to stalk eBay in the hopes of finding a discarded pair of size 8s. In the meantime, I fear I shall spontanesouly combust. Cue: the heady scent of despair.

Cork Makes BINTM Finals

Looks like Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model has fostered a love of the Leeside as two Cork girls make the show's coveted finals. (Cue: MASSIVE APPPLAUSE!) Details are hotly embargoed until its July 9th premiere on Sky Living. Until then, CLICK HERE to read my interview with the lovely Whitney Port and Tyson Beckford. Honest, humble and unpretentious - these two judges are bound to make a vast improvement on last year's panel.

Chastity Belt Anyone?

If the no-sex rule, espoused by Lenny Kravitz, Lady GaGa and The Jonas Brothers, has become a nu-millenial fashion statement then this bit of metal garb is its medievel predecessor. Yes, you guessed it. This chastity belt can be purchased for the Princely sum (yes, Prince was celibate for a time too) of €35 from Siopaella in Dublin's Temple Bar. If you're brave enough, it can also be worn as a fetching neckpiece. And to think Cameo thought their leather codpieces were something to shout 'Word Up!' about. Pah!

You Can Never Have Too Much Brocade

Well that's my humble opinion anyhow. Look into my wardrobe and you'll spy gold paisley brocade Capri pants, a Morroccan brocade gown and a helluva purple brocade high-waisted maxi skirt. Thanks to Temple Bar's Flourescent Elephant, I now have this bit of Eastern Promise at just 55 squidoodles. Take that Balmain!

This Is Not A Fashion Post

...unless you count food as fashion which I do, so deal. A few things my tastebuds discovered this weekend:

1) Ray's Pizza, Fownes Street - purveyors of the finest slice I've tasted since growing up in New York. Respect.

2) Bagots Hutton, Sth William Street - A cavern of heady Bacchanalian joy. Nice glasses too.

3) Kraft Dinner, Casa Kimmage - my 'boo-hoo Ireland lost' dinner. Haven't had this since I was a kid in Ronkonkoma. Thanks to fellow Nth American Ella for hooking me up.

EXCLUSIVE: The Infamous Katie Rogers

The only scoop I like apart from mint chocolate chip is some gooey gossip. And that is precisely what I got this morning. Des Taylor, illustrator extraordinaire and brains behind the Katie Rogers comic book heroine emailed me some sweet deets on his sophomore tome The Infamous Katie Rogers. A sequel to and reboot of the original story (The Trouble With...), The Infamous Katie Rogers will showcase new characters and storylines through traditional comic sequences, pin-up artwork and prose.  Expect a preview at San Diego Comicon this July. There are even bigger plans in the wings which I’ll divulge anon. In the meantime, check out the previews below, along with my exciting cameo in Des Taylor’s sister comic Scarlett Couture!
