For those of you who know Mary Portas - a.k.a. Fashion Retail Guru - you've probably heard of her televised bid to remake the image of the beleagured charity shop. Inspired by the recession and alarmed by the state of Britain's 5,500 thrift stores, Portas has successfully created a template for second-hand success with a funky pop-up store in London's Westfield. With celebrity sales assistants on hand (Tamara Palmer-Tomkinson anyone?) and designer donations administered by Grazia magazine, the store has already rung £47,000 at the tills for charities Save The Children, Barnardo's and Mind. The venture's three-week tenure finishes on June 27th so if you happen to be in the London area, be sure to pop in and bag some swag!

I love Mary Portas, I learned loads about selling to customers from watching her show Mary Queen of Shops. Whenever I had a bad day at the stall or a mental customer I would try to think of her

I love Mary Portas and i think its so good how she has completely transformed the charity shop, hopefully the program will make other people think twice about what they are donating in future.
